Reading

Welcome to Mrs. Gordon's first grade reading class! Reading begins at 8:30. During this time your child is practicing listening skills, print concepts, vocabulary, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension.

Whole group reading is from 8:30- 9:15.  
Guided reading is 9:15-10:15.  Students are grouped based on their reading needs. Students will meet with teacher for 20 minutes for guided reading instruction.  Student who are not working with teacher will work independently in literacy stations or with Instructional Assistant.
